| Before this server was taken into service, there was an older machine that served as shellhost for me and some friends. When I got this new machine, I first opened up to the same people as before. But I felt that the server and I could handle more users, and that's when I decided to make this a publicly available free shell server. My reasons for running the server is a mix of several things; firstly, I do need/use it myself, I think it's a great way to learn about UNIX, networking etc and I also have some kind of personal need to be of use to others (however weird that may sound :P). |
